Certified by the State Bar of California as a Workers’ Compensation specialist, Peter Martinez joined Morse,Giesler,Callister &Karlin as an Associate Attorney in July 2006 with over 14 years experience in representing applicants, defendants and lien claimants. Prior to joining MGC&K, Peter spent 3 1/2 years as a Defense Attorney, representing employers, self-insureds, and insurance carriers in all aspects of workers’ comp defense, including claims of Serious and Willful Misconduct, L.C. 132(a) discrimination actions, arbitrations, and rehabilitation. While representing union workers, he dealt primarily with injury claims and unfair labor practices. His thorough understanding of which now supports his work at MGC&K. He has also represented large health care providers, among them: Blue Shield, Blue Cross, Kaiser, and the Veterans Administration within the workers’ compensation system, thereby adding first-hand experience in another important facet of the workers’ compensation industry. Peter’s fluency in Spanish is of great benefit in deposing and questioning injured workers and employer witnesses. He attends scrupulously to the individual needs of every case he handles: “Each case is different and requires independent analysis and strategy as agreed to by attorney and client.” Born in Bogota, Colombia and raised in Los Angeles, Peter’s work is focused primarily in the inland empire, where he services the Pomona, Riverside, San Bernardino and desert areas. He lives in Diamond Bar, and is involved in school groups and foundations that raise money for the local schools attended by his children. He enjoys spending his free time with his family.
